1. Driving in Georgia 

Driving in & around the Caucasus can be dangerous, as drivers tend to be reckless. With majority of the country being mountainous, one should think-twice before renting a car to venture out in this beautiful country. 

Public transport is preferred for novice drivers, as it is easily available.Hitchhiking is notoriously famous in the caucasus and if one feels adventurous then such experiences surely create an impactful memory for lifetime. 

2. Don’t Travel in the Winters 

Winters in the Caucasus can be brutal with temperature dipping well below minus degrees. People who aren’t resistant to cold weather shouldn’t consider travelling to this part of the world. 

Tourists who can bare the cold, tend to enjoy winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding and more.  Georgia turns into a winter wonderland, but be sure to carry warm clothes, waterproof boots, hat, gloves & a scarf. 

These are a must due to sub-freezing temperatures or even heavy rain storms. 

3. Skipping Local Invites 

Georgians are very hospitable & their warm nature is part of their being. While travelling in the interiors of the country, especially the mountains, locals are fascinated by tourists & tend to invite them to their homes. 

From cordial attitude to sharing their food & wine, all this is considered part of their culture. 

This open-mindedness & generosity leaves an enchanting memory on the minds of tourists.Georgians take pride in their hospitality which makes their country welcoming.

Georgian wine is considered amongst the best in the world and it is claimed that wine was first produced in Georgia, in the countryside of the Kakheti, eastern part of the country.

4. Don’t travel on a budget to Georgia 

Georgians are inextricably liked for their cuisine, which is a must for any tourist travelling to this region.

From cooking traditions to style, eating & drinking is part of their rich culture. A lot of home cooked food & wine tours are available for tourists across the country. 

Some of the most popular dishes get difficult for tourists to taste as they travel on a low budget, cutting down or compromising and not trying these unique platters. Skimping on these experiences would not give tourists a good feeling! 

5. Don’t call Georgians, Russians!

Post 1991, Georgia has been an independent country holding rich heritage, unique language and tradition.

They don’t like to be referred to as russians. Although Russian is spoken as their second language and is comprehended across generations 

Its unique cultural heritage is a testament of its adaptability and continues to play an important role in their identity.

Its past is crucial to appreciate its present, but going forward they appreciate being referred to as Georgians.
