This one’s among the most happening destinations in Singapore that you should not miss by any chance. We opted for online booking beforehand so we could have ample time at Universal Studios. Get clicked with the minions or the Velociraptor from Jurassic World or Star Power Parade. Get an adrenaline rush by riding in the Battlestar Galactica. While at that, you also can have your fill of mouth-watering food, sweet treats, and some delicious local delights that you ought not to miss! How to get here?
Take a metro to Harbourfront station. Go to the Vivocity Mall and buy a ticket to travel to Sentosa Island via monorail. Get down at the Waterfront station and you’ve reached it already! Alternatively, you can also take the RWS 8 bus from the bus stop outside Vivocity Mall.
Bollywood Farms

Here you get to savour delicious fare cooked from the produce grown right on this farm. There is a culinary school and museum on the same property that you can explore while here. You can spend some fun time fishing and foraging as well before you go on the walking trails to check out the herb and kitchen garden nearby. The trails are verdant and have proper signage indicating directions and details of the greenery which helped me in exploring the place at my own pace which I felt was the best part. Do not miss the view from the lookout point!
How to get here?
You can either rent a car or book a taxi to get here. Alternatively, you can use the Kranji Farm Shuttle from Kranji MRT and get down at Kranji Marshes.
Pearl’s Hill City Park
Fancy a bit of trekking? This destination is totally worth the trek and the sweat! It offers a vantage point that can give you a panoramic view of the entire city. This park has been constructed around a reservoir and is a serene piece of greenery amid the bustling metropolis. People can also sit here taking in the fresh air, quiet and tranquil beauty of the pond or engage in hill climbing, hiking, fishing and nature walks. Here you can also spot butterfly, ladybug, tortoise and dragonfly varieties in their natural habitat.
How to get here?
This park is situated behind Outram Park MRT Station and can be easily accessed through Chin Swee Road and Pearl’s Hill Road via bus. You can board a metro from Chinatown or can get a ferry from Read Bridge Jetty.
Fort Serapong
If you are a history buff, this one’s for you! This fort is pretty much forgotten and dates back to the 1800s period. The interiors of the fort including the military complex have bunkers and tunnels that are extremely well-maintained. The fort is one among 4 other forts and it also has seen the tumultuous World War II. It was used as a base by army troops as is evident by the remnants of huge artillery pieces, storerooms, bathrooms and other such areas.
How to get here?
Take bus no. 3 from the Beach station for Palawan Beach. Once you are at Eton House at 33 Allanbrooke Road keep walking for 10 minutes till you see the radar dishes on your right and a forested area on your left. You will shortly find Serapong Hill Road after which you’ll reach the fort post a small trek.
Gardens by the Bay
This place is as lovely as its name! One can instantly get a therapeutic and soothing feeling with the indoor waterfalls, cooled conservatories, lush greenery and a variety of plants from 5 continents across the world. This 101-hectare wonder is divided into 3 portions namely – Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden. The Cloud Mountain, the Supertree Grove and the Gardens by the Bay Light Show are a surreal treat to the eyes. Explore the flower domes in the time before the sunset. Watch the Supertrees light up ahead of the Garden Rhapsody making the whole place look even more enchanting and fairy-tale-like! The Merlion, Kent Ridge Park, and Marina Bay Sands are some attractions near Gardens by the Bay.
How to get here?
Take the metro to first get to Bayfront MRT Station (CE1/DT16). Through Exit B get through the underground linkway and Cross the Meadow Bridge to reach Gardens by the Bay. Alternatively, you can first board a bus to Tanjong Pagar MRT Station (EW15) after which you need another bus that will drop you off at Marina Gardens Drive.
Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is among the pockets of greenery present amid the bustling urban city centers of Singapore. Walk or bike along the trails of this 163-hectare nature reserve. Well, this place is also a heaven for all the bird watching enthusiasts. You can also participate in a heritage walk to get more information of the floral and faunal beauty in the reserve.
How to get here?
Take an MRT to Beauty World Station and take Exit A to reach the Upper Bukit Timah Road. You will find the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve at 850 metres. Alternatively, you can opt for buses that will drop you to Upp Bt Timah Rd – Southaven II (42119) or Jln Jurong Kechil – Aft Upp Bt Timah Rd (42259) or Jln Jurong Kechil – Beauty World Station Exit C (42151) and walk to the nature reserve.
Little India
Little India is a vibrant, colourful and a busy neighbourhood that’ll remind you of the bustling city centres in your own city!
